MHS Chute Ledge Liner System

Category: Fixed plant wear solutions

Challenge: The original chute ledge liners were rear-bolted and needed several unique profiles per shelf. Removing them meant jackhammering the underside of the shelf, and corroded bolts often had to be cut free with hot work in a confined space. Chute wear was driving shutdowns roughly every four weeks.

Solution: We designed two standardised ledge liner components that fit every shelf radius, secured from the front with T-bolts that release with a half-turn. We also redesigned the spoon liner profile to improve ore flow onto the conveyor.

Result: Tonnes processed per shutdown rose from about 3M to 12M, and shutdowns fell from about 12 a year to 3. Jackhammering and confined-space hot work were removed from the change-out.
